A new study demonstrated that short chain fatty acids can alleviate
intestinal permeability from lipopolysaccharides of gram negative bacteria by inhibiting autophagy and the
inflammasome. In addition, they can stimulate the formation of the intestinal barrier function. Intestinal barrier dysfunction has been implicated in a number of environmental illness including chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and irritable bowel syndrome. It was recently reported that the inflammasome may be implicated in some patients with CFS. (1)

- Arabinoxylan
- Guar gum
